In 2006 Qwaruba, which manufactures footwear, incorporated oner of her designs to be used on slippers. These slippers which I believe are currently sold out were available through REI.

Just before the end of 2007 Pamela was informed by Qwaruba that they wanted to use another design for a 2nd edition which should be available later in 2008. They were coming to the States to visit Pamela's son David and her newest grandchild. It was great to spend some time with them and take them out to restaurants.

Prior to them heading off to Seattle I seized the opportunity to interview Pamela to fill in some gaps. Mark also sat down to talk about Pamela and Edie's relationship. So with these interviews done I think we have all that we need to finish up the Back to Brisbane documentary.

I hope to see Pamela and Mark at the airport for lunch tomorrow morning before they head back to Australia.

Make a tax deductible donation to "Back to Brisbane"

The new website now has a donation page. So here are some Back to Brisbane documentary updates!

The "Back to Brisbane" website just got a facelift and we are quite happy with it. It will be easy to update which is a big plus.

The latest is that this documentary has taken much longer than I anticipated, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. We submitted a rough cut of "Back to Brisbane" to Sundance. With nearly 1000 feature length documentaries, only 19 documentaries were selected for the 2008 Sundance Film Festival(according to my info). We were not one of those selected. In all honesty I don't think it was really ready yet. If anything, it helped push us in the right direction.

It is hard to believe that it is December of 2007 already. In less than 3 weeks Pamela Croft and her husband will be coming to town to visit for a couple of days. Outside of seeing the trailer, Pamela has not seen much else so I am both excited and nervous about her seeing what we have. It should be near completion for her visit.

I need to add a link to the movie website for this blog. So look for that to happen in the next couple of months.

Matt Ruggles
7th Wave Pictures
"Back to Brisbane"
Producer/Director
www.backtobrisbane.com

interview with Pamela on the Qwaruba website

This terrific interview on the Qwaruba website deals with Pamela as an artist, an educator, and "bothways" philosophy. What does this mean? It means that you can make a tax deductible contribution to "Back to Brisbane." You probably already knew that right!?

Press releases, screenings and any pertinent information regarding the 7th Wave Picture's "Back to Brisbane" will follow.

If you haven't seen the short documentary I made called "An Artist's Journey" you can view a quicktime on the website www.anartistsjourney.com This short was the first time I actually met Pamela. I was astonished both by her story and her openness of her past. This was the impetus behind doing a feature documentary on Pamela Croft.

The picture here is at the beach in Keppel Sands at about 5am. I was hoping for the sun to pop up over the horizon but the sun was covered by clouds. You can see that it is low tide and where the wet sand blends into the ocean.

Welcome to the Back to Brisbane blog!
